Born in 1979, Yosuke Kubozuka modeled for magazines and TV commercials before started acting. In 1995. He debuted in a TV crime drama, and got popular among young girls in TV series such as "GTO" (1998), "Ikebukuro West Gate Park" (2000) and particularly "Strawberry on the Shortcake" (2001) . His screen debut was Isao Yukisada's "GO" (2001), in which he played a Korean-Japanese boy, and it brought him Japan Academy Award Best Actor as the youngest in its history. He then moved on to star in high-profile films such as "Ping Pong", "Madness in Bloom" and "Samurai Reincarnation". However, he eventually became active in environmental issues and legalization movement of marijuana, and his popularity quicly declined. He got married and had a son in 2003 and decided to take a Sabbatical. In 2004, he "fell off" from his apartment on 9th floor and broke his scull. The incident was dubbed as "accident" but was suspected a suicide attempt. He comes back to screen in 2005 with "Under the Same Moon".
