Lion Rock Country Park
Lion Rock Country Park (established June 24, 1977) is a country park, located in the New Territories, Hong Kong. It consists of approximately 5.57 square kilometres of land, including Lion Rock and Mong Fu Shek and their surrounding scenic hillsides, of which 3.48 square kilometres is forestry plantations.
The dominant topographical feature of the park is the Lion Rock, which from some angles resembles a lion perching on a hill ridge.
This was an easy hike with the only strenuous part being the climb to Lion Rock Peak. Once you hit the top the views are breathtaking. On a clear day you`ll see the old Kai Tak Airport.
To start this hike, take the MTR to Choi Hung and alight at exit A. Then take the taxi to Gilwell Campsite. You`ll need to point this out on a map to the taxi driver. Don`t be too surprised if some taxi drivers pretend they don`t know where it is. I guess some don`t like driving there. :p Note there is no direct road access to Lion Rock Country Park.
